Children & Worship
"We only learn to behave ourselves in the presence of God."
— C. S. Lewis
Columbia Presbyterian has a rich tradition of celebrating our youth and shepherding them as Christians.
We offer a number of options for young parents and children to worship on Sunday. Refer to our Child Protection Policy to read about the measures we take to ensure your child's safety.
- NURSERY is provided during 11 a.m. worship service, as well as during 9:45 a.m. Sunday school. The nursery is located on the ground floor of the Sanctuary building.
- SUNDAY SCHOOL for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. Even our youngest infants begin to learn about God’s love and the joy of the church family.
- WORSHIP BAGS for elementary children can be found in the narthex and breezeway entrance outside the Sanctuary. These are to help children more age-appropriately participate in worship.
- PARTICIPATION IN THE LORD’S SUPPER in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is extended to all who have been baptized.
- ACOLYTES are fourth- and fifth-graders who help lead worship by lighting the candles, commemorating our baptism and then recessing with the light at the end of the service. These children attend a special worship training class.
